Hello, I am Dana Denison. I have had a passion for horses ever since I can remember. I grew up with horses in my pasture, in rural Oregon. I moved to Utah as a young adult, and have raised my family in this beautiful state.
In 2013 I got a beautiful Arabian horse, Shalik. It was at that time I began taking professional dressage lessons. In 2017 I began my training with Donnette Hicks at Sage Creek. Since then I have taken literally thousands of lessons as well as every clinic that has come along. I love dressage, because it is very technical, and so beautiful to watch the partnership between horse and rider. Shalik eventually retired, and I began riding a gorgeous gypsy-friesian stallion, Roary. Pictured below. Along the way Roary and I have won some cool awards:
2018 Impact of the Horse Breed Champion
2019 UDS Training Level Open division musical freestyle champion
2019 USEF Training Level Rider Achievement Award
2020 Impact of the Horse Mega 100 day Reserve Champion
2021 UDS 2nd level dressage Open Division Musical freestyle Champion
2021 USEF 2nd level rider achievement award
2022 USDF Bronze Medalist
All of this was possible due to the fact that I continue to take lessons five days a week, and I am super dedicated to becoming the best horsewoman I can be. Being the best horsewoman I can be, also means that I live a super healthy lifestyle. I believe firmly, if I expect my horse to be in tip top physical condition, I need to be in the best shape I can be too. Dressage is a partnership with my horse, and it shows best when we both are at our best physical condition.
It has been a huge joy in my life to coach others. I love sharing my knowledge, and seeing the excitement with students when the “aha” moments happen for them and the horses they ride. It is my belief that when you love what you do, it isn’t work. I think it is a privilege to spend my days with my equine best friends.
